December 2023

SIPS and international students went on a field trip to Shiroishi City. They visited Kokeshi village, Fox Park, and the Castle of Shiroishi. SIPS and international students got to know each other through the excursion. During lunchtime, they enjoyed local foods such as Umen, Soba, and Unadon.

December 2023

SIPS and international students hosted four exciting events. During "China Day", international students from China shared their culture by serving three different types of Chinese tea. On "Taiwan Day", international students from Taiwan gave away Bubble milk tea as game prizes for students who played air gun games made of plastic. For "English Day", SIPS and the Board Game Club played board games in English together. Lastly, Team Biquinho, a volunteer team of students from the Human Health and Nutrition course, introduced "Biquinho" - a Brazilian vegetable they are growing in partnership with Natori city - during "Brazil Day".

SGU organized a hybrid International Exchange Fair from November 20 to December 22. The fair offered special site viewers a chance to view various videos of partner universities and presentations of participants in international programs, along with greetings from returned exchange students. Additionally, participants who joined the international programs gave presentations about their programs to the audiences.

Mr. Araki, a Japan account manager of Australia’s Southern Cross University, visited Japan and delivered a special seminar on Southern Cross University's study abroad program to our students.

At the Multicultural Coexistence Event held by Natori City on November 18, three international students from SGU presented about their hometowns and shared their stories about winter with other participants after their presentations.

The first English extensive reading session was held by Mr. Patrick. This time, he read aloud three books: a short story, a Japanese ghost story, and a story about a Japanese job interview. Mr. Patrick's expressive reading aloud attracted the interest of the students, and after reading, they exchanged comments and checked vocabulary, making the reading session a homely atmosphere.

November 2023

Sendai UNESCO Association organized a trial lesson on wearing kimonos for international students in Sendai. Our international students enjoyed walking around Jozenji street wearing Kimono.

October 2023

SIPS and International students took part in SHOSHISAI, a university festival, where they showcased their activities. They organized a "quiz rally" where they placed quizzes and stamps all around the campus. Participants had to answer the quizzes and collect stamps. Depending on the number of stamps collected, they could win SIPS original prizes.

September 2023

SGU welcomed two exchange students from Zhejiang Yuexiu University, China, for a year stay and two exchange students from Hung Kuang University, Taiwan, for half of a year stay. We hope that they will enjoy their stay in Japan and make the most of their experience.

SIPS hosted three events, "Playing Board Games in English," "Learning English Slang," and "Learning Korean from K-Dramas," during the International Exchange Fair. Many students participated and had a fun time with SIPS.

Dr. Tiger Tien, who serves as the Dean of International and Cross-Strait Affairs at Taiwan's Hungkuang University, visited SGU on June 9th to deliver a special lecture as part of the "Building a Eurasian Community" course. During his visit, he also met with our president, Michiko Suzuki, to exchange news and reaffirm the strong relationship between our universities.

SGU student team SIPS hosted SHOKEI GAKUIN UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL SPRING FESTIVAL ONLINE 2023 on February 12. About thirty students from partner university enjoyed cultural exchange programs.
