Social Work of Alternative Care
What should parents do if, due to certain circumstances, they are unable to care for their children at home? What will happen to the lives of those children? Social work of alternative care is a framework in which the public sector provides family with support in caring for and raising children. Students will undertake in-depth study of the significance, philosophy, institutions, and implementation structure of this framework from the perspectives of the protection of children’s rights and children’s independence.

As well as developing an understanding of the history and concepts of children's culture, students will study the roles and significance of children's cultural assets through specific teaching materials, such as picture books, hand play, nursery songs, origami, spinning tops, beanbag tossing, cat's cradle, and panel theater. Principles of Childcare
Students’ study will focus on theoretical learning, including the history, ideologies, and institutions of childcare. However, childcare is, after all, a hands-on undertaking. Students will discuss what should be done to improve children's lives and play, focusing on what children have around them, such as songs, picture books, and toys.
Enhance physical expression and learn how to guide
Child's Expression
Students will study the role of the childcare worker, how to guide children, and how to prepare teaching materials, while deepening their understanding of children’s physical expression and abilities. Students will participate in dance performance recitals to enhance their physical expression abilities and experience a sense of accomplishment and cooperation with their fellow performers.
Participate in actual childcare to observe and experience childcare activities
Teaching Practice (Kindergarten)
Students will develop an understanding of children’s development through observation and involvement with children and think about childcare methods and plans. At the same time, they will learn about the functions and roles of kindergarten and the work of kindergarten teachers in practical ways. They will be put in charge of lifestyle and play and acquire childcare skills. In addition, they will deepen their understanding of collaboration with families and elementary schools and of the roles of kindergartens in the community.
Participate in actual childcare to observe and experience childcare activities
Field Study in Child Care
Students will study how childcare theory relates to practice through hands-on experience, so they can nurture the application skills to put the knowledge and skills they have obtained into practice in an integrated way. In particular, they will acquire practical skills regarding infant development and childcare, and parenting support. Based on these experiences, they will nurture the basic ability to address new challenges in childcare centers and child welfare centers.
